Set on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, Taj Exotica nestle itself among the old charm of lush greenery and exceptional ensemble of rocky cliff formation and terrain facing the beach. The site was an old quarry back in the British period which created a cliff facing the sea. The design took advantage of using the height differences from the entrance level. The main entrance to the hotel is from the 3rd level and the building is designed with floors below with a cascading effect facing the sea with a panoramic view towards the Indian Ocean.

The design embodies architectural excellence, showcasing a pure and sophisticated contemporary style. It unfolds gracefully across its serene natural tableau, an artful concoction of equilibrium and innovation. Each line, each material, and each interstice speak of meticulous craftsmanship.

MIKASO The building stands as a strong architectural landmark, with its carefully crafted stone façades evoking a sense of timeless strength. These walls, rooted in nature, rise confidently in the landscape, commanding attention while respecting their natural origins

The combination of stone and wood creates a balance of strength and warmth, reflecting the harmonious bond between humanity and nature. Inside, lighting is thoughtfully designed to play with light and shadow, highlighting the textures and creating a dynamic, living environment that embraces the changes in natural daylight. The architectural philosophy here is grounded in the ethics of sustainability. Each chosen material whispers of the earth’s generosity, each design decision a nod to energy conservation, each green space an oasis of life that bespeaks a verdant future.

This home is a fluid continuum of inside and outside, of private and communal, of light and shadow. It’s a sanctuary where every element is calibrated for harmony, designed to resonate with the rhythms of nature and human experience
